GDDR7 is set to succeed GDDR6 and was first announced in 2022. The first generation of GDDR7 has a higher bandwidth and higher energy efficiency as GDDR6 and uses PAM-3 to achieve these high data rates.
As it is designed for high-performance graphics applications, GDDR7 supports memory densities ranging from 16 gigabits (Gb) to potentially 32 Gb or higher per die. This allows for increased memory capacities in graphics cards, enhancing performance for gaming and AI applications.
